Mother-Daughter Alumni

There wasn't much trouble getting Sherie Edwards on board with her daughter Sarah attending Vol State. Sherie graduated from the college in the Class of 1979. Sarah went through the Vol State Radiologic and Sonography programs, two of the most competitive programs on campus. Tackling two college programs turned out not only to be a challenge academically, but also financially. Sarah won the Alumni Scholarship and she says that money meant the world to her, allowing her to chase her dream. She's currently with Baptist Hospital and plans to move to a travel sonography program soon that will take her all over the country.

Sarah came back recently to speak at the annual Alumni Breakfast, where she was introduced by Sherie.

"Every step in your career starts somewhere and mine started here," Sarah said. "I want to thank everyone who helped me along the way."

The Alumni Association unveiled new bright green t-shirts for Vol State employees who donate to the Alumni campaign. You'll be seeing them around campus soon. Please consider giving to the College Foundation, if you don't already. Scholarships really do make dreams come true at Vol State. You can get more info at
